The word Vigyan means Wisdom/Knowledge, Tantra means method or way, Bhirava means the existence who nourishes all the creatures. Vigyan Bhairav Tantra is a method to realize the existence which is nourishing each and every creature.

The Vijñāna-bhairava-tantra  is a Shaiva Tantra.  This tantra is framed as a discourse between Shiva and Shakti.
